Play date

Play date, originally uploaded by Poodlematic.

It's lucky for us dogs that it wasn't raining this morning because we had a play date and this time they let me come along and I was well behaved and didn't bark at Kerneels and Sophie well eventually I did bark at them but only for a bit.

We got loads of treats and had fun.

Saturday, bloody Saturday

This is the boy dog that liked me a lot. I met him and his Alsation girlfriend on my playdate this morning with Kerneels and Sophie. But his girlfriend wasn't too happy he fancied me and then she behaved like Mia and barked a lot and tried to intimidate me. And it worked cos with his nose on my bum and her shouting at me I stayed sat on the sand close to my human. And then they saw blood and the boy dog had it all over his face and it was on me and Kerneels had it in his eye. Then he and she went away with their human and I walked with Kerneels and Sophie for a bit. Then we all went home. Babette

They are from Malta; but they are not Poodles

I see these doglets often. In fact I walk past the two white ones every day on my weepoo walks. They bark ferociously from behind the safety of their gate but today one was out and about so I went to say hello. Then I wanted to play with it. Then it got scared and went away - not so ferocious now!

Then I came across the other one (on the right in the photo) who was visiting it's old friend (on the left) in the street round the corner. This old doglet is missing a front leg and my humutts nickname it 'Tripod'. I call it 'Grrrr Uffff' because it is normally unfriendly but today it wanted to say hello and show me it's teeth.

My paws are stuck

There is nothing better than coming across a c.a.t. This one lives in our complex. What you can't see in this photo is the other c.a.t that is in the branches!

Having four legs means more sticking power and can we stick to one spot when we need to!

Play date Saturday 22 May

We have been a bit slack at putting paw to keyboard the past few weeks. It's not that we haven't wanted to post but when our humans get busy with whatever they get busy with, they tend to forget our online needs and they know that we just can't manage the keystrokes to unlock the screen saver without their help!

Kerneelz and Sophie sent me an email late Friday evening to ask if I fancied another play date and when my humans and I read the email on Saturday morning we were very happy to hear from our friends and we made plans to meet that morning.

It was so exciting because we played and ran and barked and ran and played some more and then a human arrived with Eddie the Jack Russel and his shy Jack Russel girl friend (sorry - I forgot your name little doglette) and we all ran around and played together.

Eddie the doglet rather fancied me I think. He kept jumping up and kissing me!

Kerneelz also wanted to play with the small doglet. I like to think he was rescuing me.

I wish humutts met up like this on the beach more often because we canines just love playing together on the beach.

Early morning play-date

I'm being a bit slow with my posts at the moment but Mia and I had a play-date with Kerneelz and Sophie at 7am. It was a bit windy and cold but we had a lot of fun. Mia hasn't met my two pals and all she did was bark and bark and this scared little Sophie. My unruly sister had to wait in the car because she was very noisy and that makes me sad because I want her to play with my anipals with me. Apparently the humutts are considering some schooling for Mia.

Spot the C.A.T

Dagnabbit. Every time our Poodle sense of smell picks up the delicious aroma of C.A.T we just can't help but follow it immediately. This frantic sniffing and irregular dragging alerts the walking human and BAM!! - any chance of fun is eradicated.

How do we learn to do this without the human finding out?

It's doglet.

Haven't seen this doglet for ages and I was excited to stumble across him when coming back from my night weepoo walk.

Doglet was not too keen on playing but I really felt like Poodle boxing and jumping, let me tell you!

It is difficult to spot him in this picture my human took. Look for the floating eyes - that's him.

A Poodlelet!

Aww. He is so small! I don't know his name but we do bump into each other sometimes on our morning weepoo beach walks. He is 13 and going blind, but his nose works well enough to find little old me!

Meet Kerneelz and Sophie

This is the second time I have bumped into these 2 cute doglet dogs. Neelz is the boy and is the larger of the two.

They just want to play and we have such fun together. I will be looking out for them every day.

Everyone, meet Ami

My crazy sister has already posted about yesterday's Woefie-Wandel that took place at Hoërskool Tygerberg in Parow, so I'll post this - we met a halt-sister or even a younger sister of ours at the event!

We spotted a black Standard Poodle and of course, wanted to go and say hello. While the humans were chatting about where we come from, we worked out quite quickly that we shared the same mother and quite possibly, the same father as Mia has. She is 18 humans months old. Her humans call her Ami which means 'friend' in our ancestral French human language.

Ami and Mia (how funny, their names even use the same human letters!) both growled at each other a bit but she and I got on well. Ami's humans even took a picture of the three of us together!

It was lovely to meet you Ami and we hope to run into you some time soon.

A de-poodled photo

Babette and I had a Poodle discussion about out blog and we thought that it might be nice to post subject matter other than us which we have done in the past but it's been a while and so here we go it's a picture of Tabby and she is a bit sleepy and irritated at being photographed!

Me and 'Dubai Cat'

I was on my way home the other day when I spotted 'Dubai Cat' at it's home. Of course, I pulled towards Dubai Cat and luckily my human tagged along with me. Dubai Cat decided it was better to greet me from behind the security door. I do get excited around little things because they are like toys!

Interacting with the neighbours

As a Melkbosstrand resident, I have to keep in touch with my neighbours. Normally we get to bark at each other on Fourth Avenue as I go to and from my walks. Mosttly we can see each other through fences, sometimes it's just a bark behind a wall, occasionally the front gate will be open and we meet in the street and rarely, we get to play together on the beach.

I've talked about the Min Pin before but here is a short video clip of us playing on the beach last month. Even though it is so small, I still find him exciting to play with but he seems to get tired quickly.

1,2,3,4. Who can that be at the door?

Mia is always the first to run to the front door. She is a very good guard dog and ferocious for a small Standard Poodle. She does tend to get a fright at the funniest things though - things like sticks and bits of stuff on the beach.

Charlie the Worsie will go 'wuuuu, wuuuuu, wuuuu' from wherever he is, being too old to sprint everywhere. We don't call him F.A.T, but he leans more towards the plus size of his kind, if you understand what this Poodle is telling you....

I tend to look in at the commotion with interest, being more reserved and ladylike than my tomboy sister. Every now and then I do get all barky and excited but then, I can tell the false alarms from the real visitors.

Tabby is the quietest of the four of us. She is not a very good guard cat and will not bark when people arrive or cars drive past. She seems to think that she can stare whatever it is into submission and doesn't understand the joy of barking at all. Cats are funny things really.

Meet 'Dubai Cat'

They (the humans) say that cats and dogs don't get along, however I love looking out for this little cat every time I leave Mia's house. It will walk right up to me and we've even touched cold noses! Mia is another story. She wants to eat it and just after the photo was taken, she pushed herself under the car to try and catch Dubai Cat (thats her head watching it in this photo).

When it walks it looks like it's legs are too short and it falls down for a scratch when it sees a human.

Mia and I do not know what Dubai Cat means but our humans and their neighbours call it that for some reason.

The doglet was at the beach again.

This little doglet lives very close to my weepoo beach. His human parents let him run around without his leash on and he roams all around the place. This is the second time I've found him at weepoo beach.

My walking human let me off leash so I could go do my business but before I could even so much as squat for my wee, I was distracted by the doglet, who was sniffing a bush on the beach.

I've forgotten his given human name but I call him Hwrrrr Arfff.

I just love playing with him and doing the doggy play dance (the front down, paws spayed and.... JUMPANDRUN!!!!).

He plays along for a bit but then he gets a bit overwhelmed by 25 kilos of Poodle and retreats, letting me get on with my day.

It's such fun meeting other dogs on my walks!

Muscling in on Charlie's couch.

It's been a while since I last put paw to keyboard. When the humans get busy they leave the computer alone and the screen lock password is unknown to us Poodles. I must get Mia to try and figure out what it is. She's good with cryptic stuff.

Charlie the Daschund and his human dad came back from their trip away last week. While Charlie was away I sort-of took over his day couch. Not sure how happy he would be to share it with me, today I decided to climb on WHILE he was on it! Well, he growled and barked but luckily this attracted Mia and then Charlie forgot about me and growled at Mia. He is a grumpy old thing.

My human took this photo after all the commotion. Charlie is looking very put out. All I have to say on the subject is, 'Should I book my hair appointment this week, or next week?'

Wintertime Lovin'

My sister and I have got that whole 'nuns in a convent' synchronised lady issues going on. Mia has suddenly discovered she can WOW boy doggies and here's a photo of Charlie the Worsie going gaga over the stunning French Poodle in his household. You can just spot my nose in the background as I check out the other two.

All I can say is that at the moment, our daily walks are a smorgasbord of lovely smells everywhere. All we seem to be able to pick up is boy doggies.

A bit of grass won't hurt anyone

The humans were like "let's give them some grass"; and we were like "that's way cool, thanks dudes".

In keeping with the whole like 'green-eco' theme, this is grown from Daisy the cockatiels' left-over seeds. Recycle and re-use, man. Yeah.

Babette, Mia, Charlie and Tabby are all using grass
