Spring flowers

Spring flowers, originally uploaded by Poodlematic.

I know that the weather is changing because these wild flowers come out once a year at the end of winter. That and the humans have cut us short again.

In fact, all our wild flowers are starting to come to life now, which means there are more places for boy doggies to leave little love messages for us girls!

It was a trip to the airport!

It was a trip to the airport!, originally uploaded by Poodlematic.
The brushing and perfume was worth it. He let us go in the car and we drove to the airport and waited for a few minutes and then he took us out the car and then there were two of our human pack! And we went ballistic and Poodle jumped and went from one to the other. We like the airport trips where people appear. The other type of airport trip is not as much fun.

Mia goes climbing

I was very lucky this weekend because I went with my mom in the car and we went to see Charlie again and we went with another she humutt that is the sister of my mom. The highlight of the weekend was when we went walking and we went up a hill to see the town but there were sooooooo many new nice smells for me. I smelled some strange animal poo that belongs to something called a 'bokkie'. There were also some Dassies that I wanted to chase but the humutts would not let me. I havenot seen a Dassie before and I can not describe it here because I can not compare it to anything I have seen before but if you are a canine you will definitely want to chase one. I will try and chase them another time when the humutts are not looking. We are at home now and it is nice to be home but I am looking forward to my next adventure with my mom.

Izabellas is Poodle friendly!

What a treat! Today we went walkies with three of our humans! We love it when our human pack come with us but we do have to look back and check often to make sure they are keeping up and following our lead. If humans had four legs they would find it easier to make Poodle pace.

The humans decided that they needed some of their water and funny kibble and we went to a place called Izabella's. It is in Eden on the Bay, which we walk past every day - so at least it's familiar to us. The humans at Izabella's were only to happy for us to sit and watch the humanlets running around. They even brought us a bowl of fresh water. If you want to call Izabella's, their number is 021 554 9650. We love pet friendly and especially dog friendly places!

From a canine point of view, Izabella's is situated next to the humanlet play area, so there is plenty to watch, listen to and smell. We are welcome and given fresh water, which is just what we need mid walk. For the humans, there are so many yummy smells to choose from but of course, their food is only for Poodle tasting when they are not looking...

Our humans go on about how yummy the kibble cake is at Izabella's. Maybe you should take your canine with and eat cake and coffee!

Holiday by Ouma and Mia

I spent the week at Ouma and Mia's house. My humans went away to somewhere called Swellendam but had the sense to leave me with my two favourites; my sister and Ouma. I would have liked to go with them but some humans are not pet friendly and that means I do not want to meet them at all. I'm sure they would change their minds and allow Poodles if they were brave enough to meet me but I do understand that my fluffiness and friendliness can be a bit daunting for humans sometimes.

My pack is complete again and Daisy the cockatiel and I arrived back at our home last night. I slept on the couch all sprawled out and comfy as usual and it was nice.

This photo is of a canine that my humans came across yesterday at a place called Dassiesfontein. I'm not sure of it's name but they said it was very friendly and that it is a working dog and that it might have mistaken me for a sheep! Some humans do think I'm a sheep but I'm sure a distant cousin of mine would surely not make that mistake. Would they?

The walk of a thousand dogs

Yesterday (Saturday 13 February) our humans let us go in the back of the big car which is exciting because it means we are going somewhere and even more exciting when they drive with the small picture box that speaks because that means we are going somewhere new. Anyway we drove and we drove and Babette and I looked out the windows as everything went by and the back seats were down so we had lots of space to move around and see stuff and then all of a sudden we were somewhere and there were LOTS of dogs and their humans and then I went beserk and blaffed and blaffed like mad and so did Babette.

We were at something called the Purina Woefie Wandel - which our humans had seen advertised during the week and there was just so much going on to see and smell and bark at. We had to stay in one place and bark until that got boring and then we pulled our humans into the crowd of canines and people.

WOW! Babette and I have never seen so many dogs, dog-dogs and doglets in one place all at the same time - it was like going for a beach walk multiplied by infinity and we wanted to be everywhere at the same time.

AND - we got a prize - we're not sure what for but we are very grateful to the Woefie Wandel organisers Purina and the Cape SPCA for our prize. The humans told us it's because we looked so cute and adorable and we really did stand out from all the others - two fluffy white Poodle sisters that got SOOOO much attention from EVERYONE!

Then we went on our walk with all the other dogs and humans and we saw lots of things and there was lots of water to drink and I had a big poo and Babette had a peepee and then we got our prize and then we went home and were very tired. We had a great day and we know our humans are proud of us for being so well behaved.

I could be a rescue Poodle

Yesterday morning's walk was very different to normal. Not only did my humans walk me in the opposite direction to the normal route, but we came across this strange car. It's humans did not let us near it for some reason but it did look like a Poodle or two could hop on board and go for a nice ride to a walking place.

It made a lot of noise which thankfully, did not frighten me and LOTS of wind that made my head hair go flat!

Give me opposable thumbs and I'd be able to hang beneath that flying car thing too.

Our outing to the other side of the bay

Yesterday our humans took us in the big car to see the lovely humans that live in the building with the magic box with the slidey doors that also goes up and down and makes everything new when the doors open again. We had such fun there.

Of course, we were adored and hugged and stroked and adored some more; and as Poodles, this is what we enjoy the most. Just as well that Mia and I had been to the parlour on Thursday. Our ribbons even matched the Aunty Leslie human's clothes! We all looked so smart together.

Mia was brave and stood close to the edge of the balcony and she growled at humans walking in the street way below. She may have thought they were C.A.T's or some other little animal as they looked so small - smaller than she is used to seeing them.

We got some white bread and also some nutty bread to eat which was yummy - thanks Aunty Leslie human!

After the humans had finished barking together, we went back in the magic box and somehow arrived back at the big car. Then our humans took us for a lovely walk-walk in a different place to where we normally go. They call this place Sea Point Promenade (which reminds me of Pomeranian in a funny way). There were lots of people and lots of them looked at us and told us how pretty we were and how loved we must be (for those that don't know, a condition of Poodles accepting humans into their pack is that we get the most love of all).

Our humans had some human food and we had to lie patiently under the table. After they finished eating we walked some more and met a groups of lady humans that made such a fuss of us. I barked at a humanlet and then we went in the big car again and made our way home.

We were so thirsty when we got home but it was a fun day out. We slept a lot in the afternoon.

Poodles on the go.

We had quite an exiting beach walk today. Basically, we barked a lot - which we find quite amusing. Also, the beach was busier as the holiday season is almost here, so lots of people made comments about us. "Look at the Poodles", is one we get quite often. "They are gorgeous", is another one.

Thing is, as canines we do need to be praised often - so all comments from random passers-by are welcome.

Note these photos taken by our walking human who is trying to get creative with the camera to make the pictures more interesting. This is what we look like if you are a small dog brave enough to approach us on the same pavement...

Curiosity caused the C.A.T to make a friend with a Poodle?

What an exciting evening weepoo walk today! As we crossed the main road by my home, I saw a stripey ginger cat hiding behind a pal tree. I stopped and stared at it and it stared right back at me. My human took this photo - can see spot the cat?

Then we walked down 4th Avenue and as usual everyone barked as we walked past. We reached the end of 4th Avenue I was let off leash so I could go do my thing. I ran into the long grass and had a pee and then saw a human on a bike cycling along the path. My walking human and I ran all around the grass and then onto the beach. I found a huge poo in the sand so I did my business there and then we took a leisurely walk back. (Note that our humans always pick up our business - they are good like that).

At the top of 4th Avenue where I saw the stripey ginger cat was a thin black cat. Just sitting there. I put my brakes on and stared at it. It was just looking around as if I wasn't there. Imagine not noticing me! Then it got up and walked towards me. Then it was under my chin and it sniffed my front paws! I was beside myself with excitement. Poodle ears all alert and tail wagging like a wagging tail (you can see eyes at the top of the photo...

...because while all this was happening) and unknown to me - the stipey ginger cat was approaching from behind and I only saw it when the other cat was under me. The flash from the camera was too much for the cats and they ran away.

I do hope they are there tomorrow - they are my new friends!

The day my bed/couch was taken away

Regular visitors to the Poodlematic blog may recall that my sleeping couch was carted away the other evening without so much as a hint of consultation with me, it's primary user. Two humans do share this home with me but lets get one thing straight, they share with me.

In my home, there is a spare bedroom that gets used as a laundry room, and the humans dump all the clean laundry pre-ironing onto the sleeper couch there. I made it well known that I was not amused with the fact that there were coat hangars and bags and other things all over the sleeper couch by just sitting there and staring intently at a human. This does tend to get their attention quickly (handy tip for any canines reading this) and within minutes the couch was cleared and my sleeping blanket laid down.

Better. Much better.

Blaf! Blaf! It's a dog's life!

Our outing to Bantry Bay

What a treat! Babette and I were bundled into the car this morning. In itself, this is exciting because we just KNOW that we will end up somewhere else, normally another beach except this morning we drove longer than usual and our Poodle senses told us we were going in a different direction than normal. OK, the sense I'm talking about was my eyes as I just wouldn't sit down.

Anyway, we got to this place by the sea and we were taken for a walk on the grass. There were small and large humans and other dogs and lots of things to sniff at and then Babette had a poo and a wee and then we walked some more and I was so excited and then we were taken back to the car.

Then, we drove for a little bit and then went into a building and something called a 'lift' and then we were in a home and these nice people made a fuss over us. It was exciting. We sat and watched humans walking, some had dogs with them and we barked a lot but eventually we got tired so we lay down while the humans talked.

The human lady adoring us in the photo is a fellow blogger. Her blog is called Back Chat and she writes a lot about food! How neat is that?

Thank you to the lovely humans who told us we were so pretty and who let us into their home to bark at dogs from high up. What fun!

It was a dark and stormy weekend

I didn't manage to take any pictures of me out in the big storm this weekend but this photo was taken yesterday at Melkbosstrand beach when I went for my morning weepoo. Look at all the yellow/green sea foam. When that stuff blows on us our legs turn a funny greeny colour. Apparently that foam is made up of little sea plants but I think it looks like parlour shampoo.

Is it a bird? Is it a flying metal thingy for humans?

We often see these funny buzzy noisy bird things with weird colourful wings. They buzz up and down our beach when there is little wind. It looks there are humans underneath those bird things. Perhaps the humans have been caught by mutant eagles and are being taken back to the nest to feed baby mutant eagles?

The next time one of the caught humans waves at us we should bark and bark and bark to get someone to try and help us free them!

Spring time flowers

Spring is officially here, although with the mild winter we had many of the wild flowers have been out for a while. Here is a large patch of Osteospermum that I have to pass on my beach walks in Melkbosstrand. I call this colour Poodle white.

Check out the C.A.T

See if you spot the Poodle (me) spotting a C.A.T. I really don't know why the humans refer to these creatures as C.A.T. We all know they're called Huff Wuff's, don't we?

Is this a wind up toy?

This is my sister Babette on her walk this Tuesday (before we had our fur shaved off yesterday). She often comes across this little thing on her morning walks. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting one of these and I think it looks like a nice toy to play with. I see in this photo that Babette is doing her full-on 'play with me' routine - so it must be a toy that moves!

Mia

Are these long beaked chickens?

I found three of these on my morning weepoo walk today. I'm not normally very observant on my walks but these huge chicken things make a dreadful racket and are big enough to notice, even for an unobservant Poodle!

My human calls them a 'Hadeda'. I think my sister Mia would love to chase one of these.
