Sleeping like a lamb

I actually have never met a lamb and nor do I know what they look like while sleeping. I have heard my humans use this sleep related phrase and it seemed appropriate somehow.

As you can see, that is Mia sleeping on my couch. I wasn't too happy about this and sat and watched her for a minute but she would not move.

Never mind. We are sisters and I was sleeping on her bed anyway. Ha!

Thoughts on sharing

Sharing your toys and food is good but if you want something all to your Poodle self, bark louder.

Friday Poodle wisdom

If at first you don't succeed, then wait for your human to do it for you.

Blaf! Blaf!

This is Camel!

Mia's human was away for a few days but when she came back she brought presents for Mia and me: fluffy camel toys!

I don't actually know what a 'camel' is but my human said they are very big and they spit and they do not look like Poodles because they have humps.

Dankie Ouma, ek is lief vir jou xx

Sporting new 'dos

Today we were dropped at Wags and Whiskers for a dip, shampoo cut and dry. We look so pretty but my human mom was there to collect us and I wasn't expecting her and so I ran straight past her and then I realised it was she and then I made such a fuss and kissy dancey Poodle welcome. Babette was also very happy to see her too.

Early morning beach inspection

Canines have managed to train humans very well, providing us with the daily routines we enjoy.

First order of the day is our weepoo walk. If we get a boiled egg before that, so much the better.

Second after doing our business is an inspection of our territory. Not only do we need to know which other canine has been sharing our space but delicious weird smells often magically appear overnight on the sand.

Third order of the morning is a nap.

Yawn.

Come Mia. The human is too slow.

We had to wait a long time to go on our afternoon walk. It was a relief when the human got back and took out our leashes.

But when we get to the beach he stops to take pictures of the sunset, so I took charge and made off with the leash myself. I am the alpha female after all.

I love my walks

Not sure what's got into the walking human but we've gone on some nice long walks this week.

We get damp sandy paws on our beach walks now. Something to do with the water from the sky, apparently. Doesn't my sister have a cute smile in this photo?

Babette

It's early and I haven't put my face on

The human was up before us this morning although I got up to Poodle dance good morning at the bottom of the stairs but then he wanted to take my picture and I hadn't done my hair or anything so I closed my eyes to make the fast white light go away.

I will stick out my pink tongue

Babette's human took us on an evening walk today and there was so much to smell and see and lots of people and dogs and we barked at some.

The human wanted us to pose for photos and so I closed my eyes and stuck my tongue out. HA!

Mia

Another trip in the magic moving box

We don't often get to try these magic boxes with the strange doors that make everything change when they open but today we went to visit our humans in Bantry Bay and we were so excited to see them, we jumped and pranced and rubbed hello and then I went into the big bedroom and made a pee on a strange blue patch of grass coz I was so excited and then we were made a fuss of and then I found a small white teddy with a red ribbon and then it was taken away and then our Bantry Bay human gave it to me to play with, so Babette and I broke it's arm.

Thank you Bantry humans for the love and attention and our little white baba-beertjie.

Mia and Babette

We have a toy!

We are at our human in Bantry Bay and we got a toy to play with!

We already pulled an arm off. What fun!

You want to take a photo now?

It is Monday. It is cold. And it is raining. You want us to pose for a photo? We need a weepoo - c'mon!

Spot the C.A.T

Dagnabbit. Every time our Poodle sense of smell picks up the delicious aroma of C.A.T we just can't help but follow it immediately. This frantic sniffing and irregular dragging alerts the walking human and BAM!! - any chance of fun is eradicated.

How do we learn to do this without the human finding out?

Boiled egg for breakfast. Yum!

We can always rely on he to make us our favourite crunchy breakfast snack. Boiled eggs in the shell.

They go craaaak, snuffle and ffflepp. Mmmm

Free the Poodles!

These leash things are a pain. They stop us from sniffing things properly and the walking humans drag us when we spot bones on the ground, so I will chew and chew and chew through it!

Can you chew and smile at the same time? I can.

It is peepee time, ok?

The human spent some time talking to the plastic that makes human noises and we really needed to pee. We tried the sit and stare. We tried the nudge and lick. We did the climb and pester. Then Mia walked to the kitchen door and blaffed. That got his attention alright.

To reinforce our message, we then formed a Poodle chain pointing in the desired direction. Needless to say, we got our evening weepoo walk.

Happy Poodles.

The south-easter is back!

What a windy walk today. When the south-easter is blowing the humans like to go on the water with their big plastic bags on strings. It just blows sand in our eyes and mouth and makes us sneeze, choo!

It is strange. They call this the south-easter but there are no chocolate bunnies to eat.

When it's dark, cold and windy outside

And even when there are 3 sleeping places to choose from, nothing beats a cuddle from a poodle.

Oyster catching water chicken.

We often see these black water chickens when we're on our beach walks. They have red legs and a red beak. For some reason, this one flying away in the photo really caught our eye. Mia wanted to chase it - maybe that's why it decided to fly away.

Where did the scenery go to?

Walking to the beach today was like walking in a cloud. Everything we normally see on the beach had disappeared too. Even the flying water chickens seemed to fade in and out of the white cloud.

I wonder if the scenery will be back tomorrow?

Babette

Supper in bed. Yum!

How thoughtful. Babette's human filled the kibble bowl right in front of me so I will eat some thank you and now that my sister can hear me crunching away she has come to share some food with me.

Mia

Let us in!

In the mornings, my human normally drops me at Mia's house but today he dropped us both off because Mia stayed with me last night.

You can see that Mia is anxious to get in and is looking back at my human to see what's holding him back. He takes photos of us at the weirdest times.

Shortly after we got in, Mia and Tabby the C.A.T got into a fight and my human shouted at Mia. I think there are some alpha dog pack leader issues going on here. I will watch this unfold with interest as I am the alpha dog really!

Sleepover, night one done.

Oh boy. We played with soft toys, spilt water, ate all the kibble, shredded some cardboard and gave the human such a happy waggy good morning welcome when he came downstairs that we are now tired again and need to rest a bit.

Sharing kibble with my big sister.

Babette's human brought me to her home today because my human mom didn't come home so it looks like I am spending the night at Babette's house which is ok but her human sleeps upstairs away from us and sometimes I cry at night because I sleep next to my human. Anyway her human takes us for night weepoo walks and there is lots to sniff and bark at.

How could he forget?

Ok, it's a Sunday and the routines do change somewhat, but Babette's human did actually say he wouldwalk us both and then he started making human food and then they ate and they didn't even give us lousy food scraps and then he took Babette home with he!

He better walk us tomorrow else I will lick him all over. Humphh.

Mia

The flying yellow thing

Just to be fair, I am putting up this picture of the flying yellow thing. Yes, the blog is about Mia and me but we are not totally selfish.

Enough about the bird. What treats are we getting today, we wonder and will be encounter anything exciting on our beach walk?

I hate candid photos

My human goes and takes yet another candid shot of me. Do your human pack do this to you too? What makes them take these photos when we least expect them? A canine has standards people!

It's magic

The most amazing thing happened on the beach today. We were walking as normal and Babette and I spied some micro-doglets coming towards us so we started to get excited and picked up the pace a bit and then their human saw us and he bent over and then they were gone!

He walked past us and we went on our way - nothing to get excited about but for some reason I looked back and had to do three or four double takes. Can you believe the micro-doglets were running around on the sand again?

This picture is us looking at the magically appearing micro-doglets.

Ants in our pants

What's over there, hey??

Ants in our pants

Look over there!

Ants in our pants

What is it with humans? There is no point in trying to get us to pose for photos at the start of a walk. There is just too much to take in to sit still.

It's doglet.

Haven't seen this doglet for ages and I was excited to stumble across him when coming back from my night weepoo walk.

Doglet was not too keen on playing but I really felt like Poodle boxing and jumping, let me tell you!

It is difficult to spot him in this picture my human took. Look for the floating eyes - that's him.

Babette

Everything is exciting!

Hurrah! Babette and her human have arrived at my home and that's good because my human mom is out so now I have company and this is my toy, Miertjie!

Mia

Brrr. It's autumn alright.

Last night at 3am the flying yellow thing was flapping in it's cage and woke us all up.

When my human came dowstairs to calm the hysterical mini-chicken, he cuddled with me on my couch under the blanket because it was so chilly.

I am still under the blanket and am so snug. Don't make me get up today!

What a beautiful evening

What luck! I am having a nice walk on Melkbos beach and it's still light. Just. This picture is for my human dad that went away very early this morning.

What a day!

Chilling at home with my human mom and I'm on my couch with my toy and I'm tired after playing the beach with my sister so it will be bedtime soon.

Mia

Mia can't outrun her shadow!

My little sister is so hyper and runs like thing that runs fast, which is very fast.

We found a rock

It is a bit smaller than the rock in 2001 A Space Odyssey, so it can't be very clever, can it?

Windy walk on the beach

We are about to be let off leash on the beach. Yay!

Can't escape the paparazzi!

Out on a pleasant autumn evening walk and 'flash, flash'!

It's tough being a canineceleb.

A Poodlelet!

Aww. He is so small! I don't know his name but we do bump into each other sometimes on our morning weepoo beach walks. He is 13 and going blind, but his nose works well enough to find little old me!
