Ster Beertjie is hungry

I love cuddly toys and I always carry them in my mouth. This is Babette's favourite toy, Ster Beertjie. I decided that it needed to eat some kibble with me. So I put it in the bowl.

I watch you all the time

It is important to know where one's pet humans are. When they are in the place of food, keep an especially keen eye open. Because that is where food comes from. And you never know when some will come your way.

A nice new Blogger app!

We learnt yesterday that the good people at Blogger have finally released a blogging app for the iPoodlephone.

Which makes us happy because it will be easier for us to put paw to touch keyboard on the go!

Blaf!

We are still posting, just not much on here..

We have been experimenting with ways to streamline our posting to blogs and there are so many things to keep updated: Blogger, Twitter, Facebook and now Tumblr.

Tumblr has proven to be easier for us to use on a whim, especially from our phone - which is where we do a lot of our posting from these days. Our latest Tumblr posts can be seen in the widget box on the right.

Spoomatic is our Tumblr blog - feel free to have a look!

Of course I can walk in a straight line, I'm a Poodle!

Our humans got us winter jackets. They are tartan but we are not Scottish. Which is funny because we have seen Scottish dogs on our walks amd their hair reaches the floor and they look like they are hovering.

Here I am demonstrating how to do what should more correctly be known as 'strutting one's stuff on the dogwalk'.

Not that I am not hovering because really, I don't understand that concept and I am also not Scottish.

Alpha female apologises

Often we share a bowl and often I am the first eating and often I growl at my older sister when she tries to eat but we still happily share kibble but today we had a fight she bit my ear and now I smell of disinfectant.

She came and licked my face to say sorry. I am still eating kibble and she is lying down watching me. The humans made a fuss over me and she knows she went a bit overboard.

We are tired and hot

We are tired and hot, originally uploaded by Poodlematic.

Our humans took us walking when we went to Laingsburg last weekend. Laingsburg is a small town/village in the Karoo with not much in it. The Karoo is a large area with not much in it either.

It was my first time climbing up rocks. My sister Mia is smaller and lighter than me and she climbs like a mountain goat. My humans had to take me up a more gentle slope.

We climbed up a Koppie. In the language our humans speak, this means a small head, or a hill. Which is strange. Because I have now climbed up a head.

But it is was fun and there were lots of interesting smells. And huge piles of poo from either bokkies or dassies. And there were bones lying around which is very thoughtful for Poodle climbers.

When we got to the top, we needed to rest. Then we went home.

A different beach

This is the main beach in Bloubergstrand. There are normally lots of dogs walking their humans here but my human brought me when everyone was somewhere else.

Probably the humans were all at those large buildings where they go in empty handed and walk out with food.

This sign tells the humans not to swim but there were lots of humans in long rubber bags standing on things and moving with the waves. Isn't that swimming?

Babette

We like to chase each other

This was taken by our human yesterday as we played in the dog park opposite Babette's home. You can see how fast I am. Babette likes to pirouette and Poodle box!

I must hold the cushion

Clown is sharing the chair with me because Babette and I have eaten all the other toys but anyway clown is my favourite; I have had a busy day and I am tired.

Relaxing by the fire. Ahhhh!

I have learned that a nice way to end the day is to relax by a fire. The crackly noises scare me a bit but boy, I could get used to this.

Babette

We are not mountain sheep!

We went out with the humans and we climbed a rocky hill. There was a lot of loose stones and sand but we have four paw drive so we managed fine. Then we were thirsty so we drank a lot.

Babette and Mia

Road trips are tiring

They did not bring pillows or cushions, so I will rest on my little sister. She does not mind because I am the alpha female.

Babette

My bags are packed

They woke up at 5 this morning. Normally, when that happens we all go to the place where one person gets out and doesn't come back for a week. But today my stuff was packed!

We are waiting for Mia and her mom. Apparently we are all going on a roadtrip!

Waiting at the airport

He took us to the airport again. There are lots of things to see and smell there. When Mia's mom spotted us and called her, she went into sensory overload and was looking everywhere but straight forward.

Then we realised it was she. And we both went bananas and made other people smile and laugh as they watched us welcome our human home.

I will clean your face now

I will clean your face now, originally uploaded by Poodlematic.

As we had stopped to pose for yet another photo, I decided to clean my sister's face.

Home is the best playground

Humans are so thoughtful when it comes to our needs. We just love obstacle courses and trampolines and they arrange everything to make it fun jumping from one to the other without touching the floor!

Sleepover at Mia's

My humans are out and I am staying with Mia and her mom. She is sharing her bed with me. But when she stays mine I also like to share her bed.

Such are the perks of being the older sister.

Faster than a Greyhound

We have not actually seen one of these alleged 'Greyhounds' but our humans say they are fast and they are dogs. This will only be verified by us chasing one and then smelling it.

Until that happens we will chase each other when let off leash on an open and empty field.

Me at the park

This weekend my human mom took me into the city and we went for a walk in Green Point park. It was sensory overload for me; there were too many other dogs there that I couldn't bark at any of them. I just took everything in and then slept like a bug in a rug when we got home.

Summer came back yesterday

We are supposed to be well into autumn / winter but yesterday people were on the beach sunbathing as Mother Nature treated us to 28c perfect weather!

Our coats prefer cooler weather but the heat makes us want to walk on wet sand to cool our paws and we try to dash into the surf if he isn't watching..,

You must feed me!

I will keep looking at you and with the power of thought I will make you go to the freezer and put one of my beef yummies into the box that makes the noise and then my food is ready to eat.

And you will forget that you gave me one an hour ago.

It's a bird of the sea!

It's hard to see in this photo but we found a dead bird of the sea on our beach. It smelt like nothing we have smelt before and we don't know what these things do. I also jumped several times while snuffling around it because it was slightly scary.

Don't be fooled; I am on guard duty.

I will keep my eye on my Ouma, while she works at home.

What a busy Tuesday I am having!

Babette

Lets play 'Spot the Poodle'!

The one real benefit to us of having to go to the parlour, is that we tend to blend into home decor fluffiness.

Who would think there wasn't a fluffy throw on this bed?

Rules of the road

Look left, look right and look left again (if you drive on the left of the road).

Airport poodles

We are waiting for my mom at Cape Town International. Actually I am not sure why we are here but I do know something is happening because I am a bit excited.

Babette just barks at people that come too close but we are getting SO much attention.

If you want attention, get your human to take you to the parlour and then hang out at the doors of your local airport. A Poodle is the last thing people expect to see there!

Mia and Babette

Wash, dip, cut and dry!

We are collecting my human from the airport so we were dropped at the parlour early and now we are fluffy and clean and excited.

Morning = Playtime

When he took us for our morning weepoo we took advantage of being off leash and had a play in the special dog park where we live.

We ran and jumped and Poodle boxed. It was fun.

That is what it was.

We are making a point

If you leave us all day with no kibble, we will eat directly from the special kibble container before you put it in our bowl. You will then understand that we are hungry.

Spot the meaty treat

People have very short term memories and need reminding where certain components of the shopping have been put and who it is for.

My sister, Mia is torn between pointing at the treat and looking at the human and sitting nicely for a treat. Every now and then her puppy schooling kicks in...

I just want the meat!

Poodle dance duet

This is us getting excited when he says the 'W' word. Combine walk with pee-pee and we will perform a whole ballet.

We have not seen a ballet but we hear they have large duckies in them.

Babette and Mia

I will sleep like this

Curtains are nice because they block the light when I am trying to sleep and he insists on doing stuff at night.

Autumn water play

We bet he regrets letting us of leash at high tide because the first thing we did was run into the water!

And this means we get to take the beach home with us too. Thank goodness for Poodle hair! Hurrah!!

Poodle alarm!

This is how the two of us make sure our humans know we are either behind schedule in our daily routine; or we want something; or we must go for a walk.

Zzzzz

For some reason the emailed posts to blogger have not been posted with text. This is a test to see if writing above the photo makes a difference.

I am awake. But I am tired.

A doglet approacheth

A doglet approacheth, originally uploaded by Poodlematic.

The intense concentration has everything to do with the patient man aproaching slowly with his doglet while our human messes around with poses and angles...

They are lucky we didn't bolt as no-one is holding our leashes!

Goodbye summer!

Goodbye summer!, originally uploaded by Poodlematic.

Our first wet walk of autumn. The human stopped for photos on the beach and if we had not wasted time doing this, we would have got home slightly less frizzy...

Parlour day and another shoot!

We went to the parlour bright and early this morning because my sister has another modelling job tomorrow and that's nice for her because she must be at work at 5 am and I will still be sleeping then. As a Poodle.

You can see they left her legs all soft and fluffy and I am still growing my legs hair.
